Vacation Bible School
It seems early, but Vacation Bible School will be here before you know it! From July 20th to 23rd, the church will be overrun with God's children, eager to learn about God's love. This year's theme is G-Force (God Force), because in God we live, move, and have our being (Acts 17:28a).
Vacation Bible School or "VBS" is a four day, evening camp during the summer for children in the Smithville community ages 3 years to fifth grade. VBS starts at 5:00 p.m. and ends at 7:45 p.m. Mon-Wed, with a family celebration on Thursday night at 7 p.m. Vacation Bible School is organized by First United Church of Smithville under the leadership of church staff and volunteers. During Vacation Bible School the children will have lots of fun in games and activities as well as crafts and Bible teaching.
Every year the VBS centers around a different Christian theme where the kids will be learning stories from the Bible. Vacation Bible School tries to reinforce a positive message of love, forgiveness and acceptance of others.
Want to Volunteer to Work with our Children During Vacation Bible School?
All volunteers who work with children and youth are required to complete a Safe Sanctuary training class. This class includes a review of the Youth Protection Policy and a criminal background check. Volunteers are required to renew their application every two (2) years. If you'd like to work with our children, please contact Wilson Pruitt at email@example.com or contact the church office at 512-237-3325.
